Kirby’s Blowout Blast uses bigger scrolling stages compared to 3D Rumble in Kirby: Planet Robobot. The requirement to clear the stage is reaching the goal. There are no copy abilities, so Kirby inhales enemies and blocks and sends them back out as Blaster Bullets.

Some stages have the feel of depth. Kirby can move not only to the left and right, but front and back as well.

If Kirby inhales lots of enemies and blocks, he will become Full Stomach Kirby, allowing him to send out a powerful “Piercing Star Bullet”. If you use it to take down multiple enemies at once in a combo, you’ll gain a bonus score. Kirby can still move and jump with a full stomach.

Bosses will also make use of the 3D space to attack. For example, Kracko Jr.’s beam attack will spin to form a circle. You’ll also need to watch for the shadow in King Dedede’s fight to avoid him. Lololo and Lalala will also make their return.

Tapping Kirby amiibo from the Kirby or Super Smash Bros. series will place statues and change the music in the plaza. In total there are four statues: Kirby, King Dedede, Metal Knight, and Waddle Dee. Also, if you have StreetPass data from Planet Robobot on the same 3DS, a special Robobot Armor statue can be placed.
