Nintendo eShop – LEGO Star Wars, Link’s Awakening Pack, Monster Hunter Generations e molto altro

Wii U eShop

Ziggurat (Milkstone Studios, €15.00 / £12.00) – Previously released on PC, this is a first-person dungeon-crawler / roguelike that promises to bring a different challenge every time you play as its sorcerer protagonist. It has a number of key ingredients for the genre, with lots of items and levelling up to do along with some boss encounters. There aren’t many quirky takes on first-person ‘shooters’ on Wii U, so it’ll be interesting to see whether this can cast a spell over us in a review.

Midnight 2 (Petite Games, €1.99 / £1.79) – A second entry in the series that adopts a relaxing aesthetic for some gravity-based puzzles in which you propel the ball-like protagonist around various stages. It continues the solid work of its predecessor, as we explain in our Midnight 2 review.

Wii U Retail Download

LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens (WB Games, €49.99 / £39.99) – We’ve had to wait for this one long after the Blu-Ray / DVD release of the film itself, but the comedic and no doubt formulaic LEGO take on the hit movie is finally arriving. It’ll include a few story snippets that are new and exclusive, along with the usual slightly off-beat portrayal of the movie’s main scenes. Along with puzzle platforming there’ll be a bit of flying, and we’ll blast through a review to tell you whether the force is with this one. Available from 28th June.

Wii U DLC

Hyrule Warriors: Legends of Hyrule Pack (Nintendo, €9.99 / £8.99 for Wii U only season pass, £15.29 / €16.99 with 3DS season pass)

Hyrule Warriors: Character Pack (Nintendo, €11.99 / £10.79) – Includes Linkle, Skull Kid, Tetra, Toon Link, King Daphnes and Ganondorf’s trident weapon.

Hyrule Warriors: Link’s Awakening Pack (Nintendo, €4.99 / £4.49 or part of Legends of Hyrule Pack) – Includes Marin as a new playable character and new boots for Linkle.

3DS eShop

BOXBOXBOY! (Nintendo, €4.99 / £4.49) – Announced during E3 along with a discount for the first entry in this series, HAL Laboratory’s cute little box returns with some extra box-based abilities (use two sets at once) and new puzzles to solve. We can expect plenty of charm and quirky collectables along with plenty of puzzle-based stages; we’ll see whether all the sides of this one come together in a review.

The Battle Cats POP! (PONOS, €9.99 / £8.99) – A successful smart device title that was given a big push by Nintendo in Japan when it arrived on the eShop, it now makes its way to the West. With a charming visual style this is a 2D tower defence game where the warriors in question are, of course, cats; there’s also a multiplayer VS mode, too. We’ll scratch out a review and let you know what we think. Available from 27th June.

3DS Retail Downloads

Zero Time Dilemma (Aksys Games, €39.99 / £32.00) – The third part of this popular narrative / puzzle series arrives, with this entry set to fill in gaps and mysteries left over from Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors and Virtue’s Last Reward. It’s a project that was largely made possible by vocal fan support, and it’ll be interesting to see how it stacks up; we’ll bring you a review as soon as we can. Available from 28th June.

LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens (WB Games, €39.99 / £29.99) – As is now the norm we expect the portable entry to have a few gameplay changes from the Wii U iteration, with this 3DS entry likely to have a little less grand scale in its level designs and potentially a more linear approach. We’ll find out and bring you a review. Available from 28th June.

Teddy Together (Nintendo, €39.99 / £34.99) – A friendship game designed particularly for young children, you care for and interact with a teddy bear that’s come to life. Available from 1st July.
